The One Year Millionaire

In the latest issue of the ‘ONE YEAR MILLIONAIRE‘ I spoke about buying the perfect domain name that is right for your business and what makes a great domain stand out. This time I am going to talk about Domain Flipping!

Domain Flipping is essentially a business model (more like a drug that you get addicted to) where you buy Domain Names at low prices and try to Sell them off for quick profit! If you are into the whole resell thing and you know that you can sell then this is perfect for you to Make Money Online.. and lots of it!

The idea is very simple… you can easily buy a Domain Name for less than $10. Every year in order to keep that Domain under your ownership you will pay another $10 (which is really nothing at all) but the great thing is that you can find someone willing to buy this name for a much higher price! In some cases you will only be able to double your investment.. but in a lot of cases you will be able to make hundreds of dollars; if not thousands!

Think of it this way: A Domain Name by itself is nothing special. That is why it can be bought or registered extremely cheap; however, if you make something out of it then you can add an undetermined amount of value to it!

What can you do to make this Domain worth something?

• Install a Wordpress Blog.
  This is something simple that anyone with a little bit of internet knowledge can do. Installing a Wordpress blog is so easy that pretty much anyone can do it. Except I know that some people really don’t want to spend much time doing this or may not know how (for whatever reason). That is why I know that there are tons of people out there who are willing to pay someone to install a blog on their domain.. or buying a Domain with a pre-installed blog, even better!
• Install a Forum.
  The installation of a Bulletin Board, Forum, Message Board, etc. can be a pretty tricky installation for those who don’t really know much about the internet and hosting capabilities. That is why it is easy for internet savvy people to register a domain name, install a Bulletin Board and sell it for ten times their investment with less than an hour’s work!
• Build Link Popularity.
  If people are looking to buy Domains, sometimes they want an established Domain that has pre-existing Traffic that they can use for their own purposes. This is how you can take a $10 domain and turn it into a $5000 sale! Link Building isn’t hard work… but it takes time and patience. This is something that not a lot of business owners have; especially when they are losing money for time wasted! That is why a small business owner is possibly very likely to buy a Domain name that already has Link Popularity!
• Provide Content.
  I know of a lot of people who create small Niche Blogs or Niche Sites.. write a couple great articles and sell them off on the internet! This can be great and extremely easy if you are a good writer. The great thing about this is that sometimes you can leave backlinks in those articles back to another one of your own websites. Usually the buyers of these kind of sites are looking to buy Niche Sites in bulk in order to collect decent revenue from advertising.
• Monetize with AdSense.
  This sort of goes with what I mentioned above in Providing Content. You can slap on AdSense units on Niche Sites and sell them! We all know that AdSense could equal big bucks; but it also might just barely cover your investment! If you have a great time-tested AdSense layout with great ad positioning, then you could sell these sites by the dozen and make tons of Money on the Internet!

Now that you know a few easy things that you can do.. your next question might be “Where can I sell these Domains?” Well… here are a few great options:

• Web Development/Internet Marketing Forums
  The communities on these kind of forums are always Buying/Selling websites and domains and adding yours to the mix won’t hurt at all. Especially if you have a great offer! This is also great because you can research appropriate pricing for Domain Flipping. One thing you need to remember; however, is that the Domain is only worth as much as somebody is willing to pay for it! You might get lucky and sell a crappy Domain with a default Wordpress blog installed for $2000. It all depends on circumstance. • E-Bay.
  If you are looking to sell a Domain or anything else… you must know that E-Bay is always an option! I have seen tons of Domains sold on E-Bay and because it is one of the biggest most well known sites in the world.. you have great exposure increasing your chances to make big profits from Domain Flipping!
• Friends/Co-Workers.
  If you know a friend or co-worker that is interested in Online Marketing or just plainly Making Money Online then you know that you can be their teacher and guide them through the process! Register a Domain for them and find them a great hosting service that will save them money, and Make You Money!

One thing to remember is that Domain Flipping can be very addictive. Once you Flip your First Domain you will want to keep Flipping and you might notice that you are spending a lot of time on it.. but if you are making good money from it, then I guess it might be worth it! Finally, before you get into Domain Flipping.. in order to succeed you need to know the basics of the internet and the basics of marketing and selling on the internet! Do your homework… you won’t regret it! Start Flipping Domains.

Hey Everyone.. I’d like to welcome you all back to OneYearMillionaire.net! In the next couple of issues I am going to be talking about Domains… how to choose them, what you can do with them, and any other Domain related topics. Let’s get started!

If you happen to be thinking about purchasing a new domain name for a product,service or personal blog then you might want to throw around a few ideas before you make your final decision. You probably already know by now that the best of the best Domain Names have already been scraped up a long time ago; however, you can still sometimes get lucky with the right combination.

When you are on the verge of registering a brand new domain then there are a few things that you should do to make sure that you are getting the most for your money and eventually make even more money online!

1. Keywords
   What Keywords do you want people to associate with your website?
   Whenever I have taken the time to do research before buying a domain name I have noticed that Keyword selection is key SEO! In fact, after making a couple generic searches for ******(keyword) I have easily spotted ******.com or ******.org within the first page of search results. This is just an example and might not be true for 100% of keywords, but I have found it to be a good percentage of them and these are also in competitive niches! If you are concerned about receiving a lot of Organic Traffic to your domain then think about the keywords that you need to put in your domain name and brainstorm a few possibilities!
2. Domain Branding
   Creating a Brand for your Domain isn’t just as simple as creating a Domain Name! You have to have the whole package to go along with it! This could include the design of the website, a motto or catch phrase and any other distinguishable element that you think could add to your domain!
3. Short & Sweet
   Try to keep your Domain Name as short as possible! The reason you want to do this is that it will be easier to remember and easier for people to type into their browser when they want to go there! Also if you are doing offline marketing of any sort for your website then it is a lot easier to print a short Domain Name on a business card or on flyers.
4. Avoid Numbers/Special Characters
   The reason you want to avoid numbers in a Domain Name is because it could cause confusion. Do people really know when to type “Six” or “6″? If they are a first time visitor I can see how a lot of people could end up confused and lost in the world wide web! The same thing goes for special characters like hyphens (-). They just add to the confusion in a simple task such as typing in a URL into your browser!
5. Intuitive Naming
   When you name your domain you have to think about what other people will think when they read it. You want people to be able to find what they need once they click to your site. If you have a website domain named “oneyearmillionaire.net” and all the content is about “pet training” or “animal food” then you probably didn’t name your domain properly! On the other hand if you had “pettrain.com” or “animalfood.com” then it is probably exactly what the surfer is looking for! This goes for a good percentage of websites! There are others who put in a lot of work on branding to make sure that people know what to expect on their site, but why not just go for the alternatively cheap way… by writing it in your Domain Name!

So once you have looked over this list and made sure that your domain name is up to par.. you might want to check with a Domain Registrar if your Domain Name idea has already been taken… if not, then act fast! You can easily buy a Domain Name between $10-$20! Finally just make sure that your Domain Name is relevant to whatever you are going to be using it for and then get ready to start building!

Hey Everyone… I just noticed that the OneYearMillionaire blog is now 3 months. Time goes by really fast when you are having fun. It has been around a year that I’ve been doing Online Marketing and this blog was made to help out people get started in the Internet Marketing niche! I feel like I’ve made many accomplishments with this site in the short time it has been on the internet. This post will be used to show how far we’ve came so far and later on I will be able to look back at this post to compare my stats. So lets take a look at some statistics:

These are my ranking positions as of March 28th 2008 compared to today (June 28th 2008). Everything seemed to go up a lot in rank with the exception of Google PR. The Google Page Rank update came along a week after the launch of the site so that is why the domain doesn’t have any PR yet. There should be a really positive change in that when the next update comes along…

I haven’t really worked much on getting RSS Subscribers, but I am pleasantly surprised to see that my numbers doubled in the past week! I should be able to reach 100 pretty soon and then keep going! As you can see there has been a big boost in Traffic. From a dozen daily visits to over 450! The traffic on OneYearMillionaire.net has been steadily going up since I’ve launched the site! I am still working on getting the traffic to keep growing, so next time these totals should look better! I also noticed that my organic traffic (search engine traffic) has been going up in numbers lately which is also great news.

As you all may or may not already know… blogs participating or launching contests is not a new trend. This has been going on for quite a while now and it seems that the prizes just keep getting better! A Blog Contest is when a Blog holds a Contest with various prizes or one grand prize for certain actions which usually require promoting that blog in different ways. People can accumulate points by leaving comments on blog posts, writing a blog review, writing about the contest itself, etc.

The reason that a lot of Bloggers do this kind of thing is because it attracts a lot of attention from current readers who will then spread it to third party viewers. These third party viewers may then turn into a regular reader of the blog itself! The lengths that Bloggers will go to in order to attract new readers is scary! I am still waiting for the day when a brand new car is put up in a contest and you have to do is write a review about the site holding the contest to win! Wouldn’t that be great?

Driving Traffic to your website is essential; so I guess there is no reason to take extra steps to make sure that the buzz gets out there! There is nothing wrong with giving out cash prizes (small or large) to increase activity on your website if you think that you will be able to profit from it in some way. By Holding a Contest you are giving your readers another reason to visit your site again and again. You also give them reasons to spread the word about your site and bring in new readers!

If you are going to set up a contest in order to Link Bait or promote your website make sure that you are providing big prizes that people will find useful! If your prize is 2 EntreCard credits then it isn’t much of a prize… but if you offer 1000 EntreCard credits then at least it has some value to it!

One great thing you could do by running a contest on your Blog is increase your RSS Subscribers! You can write down as a stipulation of the contest that they must be an RSS Email Subscriber to be able to win a prize. This will boost your numbers right away and you will see the difference immediately!

Depending on what your website is for you will have a tendency to choose different ways of promoting it to your own satisfaction. I know that a lot of people just getting into Internet Marketing now are wondering how to make money with Google AdSense or other publishing programs. It is all about driving organic traffic to your site and that means you will have to rank high in search engines for your key terms in order to make the most out of your site and Make Money Online!

Your web site’s Search Engine ranking can be determined by Search Engine Optimization, Backlinks, Location and Authority. After all consideration I came to the conclusion that Backlinks are probably one of the strongest determining factors when it comes to SERPs (Search Engine Results Page). For Example: If you have two pages and one has really strong SEO and a couple backlinks while the other has a little bit of SEO and thousands of backlinks. The site with more quality backlinks usually will place better!

In order to achieve great ranks and make some money you need to Build Links. The more Backlinks you have, the better you are doing! I always suggest 1 Way Linking because it will always appear natural to Search Engines; that way you cannot get penalized for Reciprocal Linking. Here are Four different common types of Backlinks:

• 1 Way Links: This is a natural link from another website to your own. This can be achieved through Link Building efforts, great content that people will Link to or by Purchasing a Link on a website.
• 2 Way Links (Reciprocal Links): This is a link exchange. You place a link for someone on your site and they will return the favor on their own. This is not suggested because the value of these links is greatly reduced just because it is reciprocal. Think of it like the links are canceling each other out.
• 3 Way Links: 3 Way Linking is where there is 1 link to another site from a triangle of Three sites. It is the result of knowing that Search Engines penalize 2-Way linking. It is just a loophole around that idea; except there is still some risk involved.
• Internal Links: These are links to internal pages of your site from within your website. If you have a page that talks about Link Building you should also place links to other Link Building pages in your web site to build internal links. Contrary to what some people may think; they are also helpful to help certain keywords rank higher in Search Engines.

Some other things that you should take into consideration when Building Links are:

• Anchor Text: This is the Text that is shown when you have a URL to your site. For example: The anchor text for Becoming a Millionaire Overnight! is “Becoming a Millionaire Overnight!” This helps you rank for those terms in Search Engines that is why it is good to have Backlinks to the inner pages of your site too; instead of just the root destination.
• Do-Follow: This is a link attribute that is default for any URL. If a Link has a No-Follow attribute it means that the link doesn’t pass any PR.
• Page Rank: The Page Rank of any given page is basically a score that Google gives the page between 0/10 which determines the page’s Link Popularity. The higher the PR; the better.

When you run a web site you should always set aside some time to Build Links. A great Link Building Campaign can really make the difference between a site that does well and a site that doesn’t.

These are the things that I do for some of my websites in order to Build Great BackLinks:

• Submit to Search Engines - Submitting to Search Engines is the first thing you should do when you have your new website up and running.
• Submit to Directories - Submitting to Directories creates good quality backlinks. There are two directories specifically that are better than the rest. Yahoo.com and Dmoz.org
• Submit to Blog Directories - When you Submit to blog directories you can get a lot of backlinks to your main page and specific internal pages. Another great thing about them is that they create exposure for your blog and possibly other bloggers will link to your material!
• Submit to Article Directories - Submitting Articles is a good way to build backlinks and receive good referral traffic. My favorite article directory is Ezinearticles. Check it out.
• Submit to RSS Directories - Submitting your RSS Feed to these sites is a great way to increase your RSS Subscribers and sometimes you can also get a link to the root of your website as well.
  
  

• Create Profiles on Social Networking Websites - These sites usually allow you to have a URL to your own personal website on your Profile Page. It is a quick and free Backlink.
• Create Profiles on Social Bookmarking Websites - Creating a Profile on Social Bookmarking Sites is good because each time you update your website you can add another backlink to your web site’s Content! A few great Social Bookmarking Sites include: Digg , StumbleUpon , Mixx , del.ico.us
• Create Profiles on Forums - Creating Profiles on some forums is great because you can place a Backlink in your forum Signature. This is the space under each post that has your Backlink. It is great because not only will you receive a good Backlink, but the referral traffic from forums is amazing!
  
  

• Blogs: Link Exchange - This is where you exchange a Blog Roll Link with another Blogger in order to get some traffic. I don’t really do this personally because I am not too fond of Reciprocal Links; but it may be helpful to some.
• Blogs: Link Baiting - This is where you write great content for your site that others will link to! This could also include contests and other types of posts that are generally linked to. Writing something controversial or humorous is a great way to Link Bait.
• Blogs: Leaving Comments - This is where you leave comments on blogs that are relevant to the post. Leave a meaningful comment that either adds to the topic, or questions it. You can use the Name as your Anchor Text and Website as your URL.
• Blogs: Guest Blogging - This is where you write a blog post for another blog and place your Backlink somewhere within the post. The great thing about this is that it also builds a relationship between yourself and other Bloggers!
• Blogs: Blog Reviews - This is where another Blog will Review your Blog and place a Backlink to your main page and possibly some of your best posts! Many times this is a paid service; however, there are a few blogs that offer them for free!
  
  

• $$$: Buying Backlinks - I don’t personally do this but I know some people prefer this method. This is where you buy a link on a high profile web page that gets a lot of traffic and you receive traffic from them. I wouldn’t really do this because it could hurt PR, but if you don’t care about Page Rank then I guess it wouldn’t make a difference.
• $$$: Link Building Services - These are services offered by Link Building Companies that will do your Link Building for you. They do all sorts of things like Submitting to Directories, Creating Profiles, and Promoting on Forums.

These are just the basic things that you should do when you are Building Links for your website or blog. If you would like to know more about Building Backlinks then check out these two websites… they both have a lot of detailed information about Building Links:
