Issue 22 : Buying Expired Traffic.

Welcome back to the ‘ONE YEAR MILLIONAIRE‘. Getting traffic to your website can probably be the most difficult task that you will have to face when looking to make money online… there are a couple solutions to the lonely webmaster’s biggest problem, but today we are going to look at just one of them. That would be the process of buying expired traffic.

The concept is simple, sometimes a website may be left unattended and their domain will just expire. In fact, this is happening to thousands of domain names everyday… the catch is that they could still have a good amount of traffic directed to them through outside links!

There could be a multitude of reasons why a website’s domain could expire and be bought. The webmaster could have either given up on that website and let it rott, been busy or could have simply just forgotten about it. We are all human, things do slip our minds sometimes; even important things. If you buy an expired domain and the original webmaster contacts you wanting to buy it back, in most cases you should be nice and offer it back to him/her for a profitable yet reasonable price.

I know of some people who solely make money by going around and buying expired domains to either sell them back to the owner or sell them to other companies. There could be a lot of money to be made doing that; however, you really need to know a lot about the subject and learn how to do it successfully. If you don’t know what you are doing, then chances are that you are going to buy domains and guess what? NO BUYERS :(

Expired traffic could be a good source of traffic; however, you’ll want to try to make sure that the domain somehow relates to what your websites have to offer if you want to forward the address. If you are looking to create a website just from a domain that you bought, then at least you’ll be in the right field.

Finding a domain that has a lot of traffic is hard… that is why there are many people online turning a profit by selling services or tools which can help you find a good expired domain. In fact there are services to find expired domains, services to reserve expired domains and services to bid on expired domains. If you are willing to pay for these services then at least make sure that the domain will be profitable. Link popularity is usually the best measure of traffic with expired domains because it will show you how many links online are pointing to that website. You can also check websites like Alexa.com for rankings on the top trafficked websites.

The idea of buying expired domains is starting to spread fast so the chances of you snagging a good one are very unlikely.. There are probably many users sitting at their pc waiting for a domain to expire so they can be the first to claim it… Goodluck to those who wish to try, it can get addictive if you manage to get your hands on some good ones… you’ll end up with more domains than you have use for.

In the next issue of the ‘ONE YEAR MILLIONAIRE’ I am going to talk about hosting services.
