The first main thing you have to look at when optimizing your pages is that they have a good title.  Nothing too long, short and simple and to the point.  The second thing you need is a good page description, try to use one or two key words in here so that you can get greater results. The third thing to focus on is the header tag.

The most important thing when optimizing your web pages is…. THE CONTENT!  As a general rule of thumb, the more the better!  The tough part is to try and use your keywords within the page and information without making it sounds stupid (it still has to make sense when you read it).

Finally, a few more little tips on optimizing your page.  Update your web pages often.  Try to add new content every few days at a minimum of once per week, this will give search engines the idea that your web page is important since it is constantly being update and therefore give it a higher ranking.

One final piece of advice regarding page optimization for better search results… it is better to be on the 5th page of a keyword that is searched by millions than to be on the 1st page of a keyword that is searched by dozens!  Keep that in mind when optimizing your page or even before you decide what type of website you are going to be making!
