Issue 53 : Fight Laziness to Maximize Productivity!

Have you ever had one of those days when you knew exactly what you wanted and needed to write on your blog or website but you just didn’t feel like spending the time it would take to get it done? Have you ever decided to relax and watch funny clips on YouTube instead of getting important work done? Well if you said yes to those questions then don’t worry, because everyone does. Keeping that in mind.. in this issue of the ‘ONE YEAR MILLIONAIRE‘ I am going to be giving a few suggestions on how you can overcome laziness and maximize your project productivity!

Before you read any further into this subject, you should take the time to read Issue 52 which was about Time Management. It will really help because it really goes hand in hand with the topic of this article. The following are just my personally suggestions of what I think can help you become more productive when it comes to online marketing so it may be possible that it doesn’t work for every single person. Taking a look across the spectrum I already know that there are many different kinds of internet marketers and a lot of them are doing great, but I know that there are also many of them that need a push or some motivation.

Keep in mind that each part may not apply to each person, but here are a couple ways to fight laziness that will ultimately increase your overall productivity:

  1. Sleeping.
It is probably a known fact that a lot of people are sleeping later and later in this day and age. I remember many years ago when 9-11pm was a standard time for people to go to sleep. Lately I’ve seen and heard of many people who go to sleep between 3-5am and it is almost to the point that they will miss the next day because of the time they go to sleep. You may not have realized this but sleep and fatigue is one of the biggest factors causing laziness and it totally makes sense. When you first wake up in the morning, do you really feel like using up the little bit of energy you have to work on something right away? The answer is probably a ‘no’. You have to make sure that you get enough sleep so that you are not too tired to get things done during the day. Another problem is when you sleep too much because it can lead to many problems including a complete destruction of your working schedule. Practise normal sleeping habits and you will notice that you will not be rapidly coming up with excuses when things need to be done.
  2. State of Mind.
One of the reasons that a lot of people fail at work-at-home opportunities is because they don’t have the right state of mind when it comes to this business. If you are a passive thinker then you will do just that, pass right by all the important aspects of online business. You need to become active in all ways to increase your potential earnings and drive yourself towards financial freedom. If you want to fight laziness then you have to think actively and turn ideas into actions!
  3. Exercise.
You may be thinking that this has nothing to do with working online, but trust me that it can really improve your work. If you are exercising regularly then you are probably losing working time right? Wrong! With the few hours that you are exercising in one week you will be much healthier and will notice that you will be much more active in whatever you need to do. If you need to get things written then you will be feeling confident that you can get it done! If you need to build links to your website you will be able to do it and feel good about it. The secret to exercise is that most people do not realize how it affects the human mind. After you exercise, not only has your body responded in a positive way but so has your mind. In the previous part I talked about how State of Mind affects laziness and since exercising will temporarily boost your confidance you can see how you can use it to your advantage to become productive.
  4. Will Power.
Another popular reason that people become lazy to work on important things is because they would much rather do something else. Whether it is socializing with friends, a hobby or just something to waste one’s time, these activites tend to distract people from what needs to be done. I know a lot of people who love a certain activity and will just neglect everything whenever the opportunity to participate in this activity comes up. Everyone has something that they will just stop whatever they are doing to go do. The trick is to keep that urge to do whatever you want inside while you are getting your work done and you will see that you can get your work done a lot faster. Hopefully you will not end up with poor quality rushed work. As long as you can maintain your work quality and have the will power to finish your work before enjoying your special activities then you can definitely increase your productivity!
  5. Rewarding Yourself.
There are a lot of people who put off their work and do other things because they feel as if they aren’t really getting anything out of it. This is especially for those just starting in online marketing who might not be seeing a steady cash flow or who may not be getting the results they want. Making money online and success is a great reward in itself for all those hours of work that you will be putting in, but what is going to motivate someone who isn’t seeing results? Remember that it takes time to build steady traffic and online ad income so it is likely that you will not be making a great amount of money right away. That is the reason that a lot of people just end up straying towards a path of laziness and really don’t succeed in the internet marketing world. If you know that you want to do this and you want to keep at it then a good trick is to reward yourself for the work that you do. Even if it doesn’t exchange into a monetary value you can still give yourself incentives to get your work done. For example you can allow yourself to only watch television after you have gotten your daily work done. Not only will this be great because you now have a requirement and reason to get your work done, but it will also probably decrease the amount of time that you are wasting with unproductive matter.
  6. Changing your Attitude.
When you think hard about the many excuses that people will use when they have some ‘work’ related things to do it can almost get repeditive. Many times you will hear people throwing around the phrase ” I’m too lazy! ” almost casually. When you really think about it… if they were lazy then they wouldn’t be doing anything, but generally they are! They are watching television, they are listening to music, they are chatting online, they are browsing the internet, they are eating and playing games. Each of those common activities do require effort and if you can take the energy required for those and transfer them into something more productive then you will definitely increase your output! So this means… never say that you are too lazy to do something, because three quarters of the time that you say that you are off doing something else that requires as much if not more effort than the work to be done. Look at your work in a positive way and there is no reason to procrastinate.
  7. Believe in Yourself.
A lot of times you end up not doing something because you don’t have much confidance in yourself. You have to remember that if you don’t think you will succeed then you are setting yourself up for failure. The reason that a lot of people don’t believe in themselves and do not want to put their full effort into a project or work is because they are scared they will get disapointed with the outcome. In my experience the only times I have been disapointed was when I gave it my all and got sloppy results, so it makes sense that you would avoid trying your hardest to avoid definite disapointment. One thing that you do have to consider before you move on is that you can’t succeed in something if you don’t bother doing it. Believe in yourself and things will start to go your way.

So these are just a couple ways you can fight the instinct of laziness and become more productive. Now if you still have productivity issues because you have too much work to do or because you hate to do manual tasks then you could always start Outsourcing your work. So in the next issue of the ‘ONE YEAR MILLIONAIRE‘ I am going to talk about Outsourcing and the benefits it could bring to your online businesses!
